9th Annual NYC Mental Health Film Festival

May 14, 2013 - Less than a minute read

Community Access and the New York Association of Psychiatric Rehabilitation Services (NYAPRS) sponsored the 9th Annual NYC Mental Health Film Festival. This year’s approach was to highlight illnesses in everyday people working in a variety of respectable careers. The goal was to fight the stigma against mental health recipients. The event screened 5 films documenting the lives of career driven professionals and their struggles. Each film varied in length from a quick 10 minute short of an amateur boxer living with Borderline Personality Disorder to a 2 hour long piece exploring the highs and lows of manic depression. We look forward to attending next year’s event. Here’s an interview with Carla Rabinowitz, the Chair of Mental Health Film Festival.
