New law to fight against prescription drug abuse

“Doctor shopping” according to Tennessee law is defined by a patient who receives the same or similar medication from another physician within 30 days. This rampant problem in the state of Tennessee has lead to the state’s department of health regulating and tracking drug prescriptions through a database. Officials say, it is not to control. Doctor Wilson, a university of Tennessee graduate school professor states that this “is not designed to keep medications away from patients who truly need them.
